lyrics

Where've you gone?
Where have I ended up?
Do you still think about when we were young?
Telephones were still tied to the wall.
These city streets seemed so big, and yet so small.
For a while, you were just a stones throw away,
but many years separate our last embrace.

Misery is a friend of mine.
She practically sleeps in my bed,
and when she offers herself to me,
I practically feed on her flesh.

Did I forget?
Am I telling a lie?
Did I make you feel like no more than a moment in time?
Telephones came untied from the wall,
but for many years I still never so much as called.
Would I know you if we met today eye to eye,
or would I just keep my head down, and just walk right on by?

Misery is a friend of mine.
She practically sleeps in my bed,
and when she offers herself to me,
I practically feed on her flesh.
